Your child is growing up in a world filled with changing messages, opinions, and influences. So start praying God's word over your child. But if praying God's word feels new or unfamiliar, that's okay. I got you. Praying is not a performance. You do not need to sound polished or know exactly what to say. 1 John 5, 14 says, Now this is the confidence that we have in Him that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. When we allow Scripture to guide our prayers, we are praying according to the truth God has already given us. Now that does not mean repeating a verse as though it's like a formula, and it does not mean that we can control exactly how or when God will answer. It means we are bringing our requests to God, trusting His wisdom and allowing His word to shape what we pray. And you can begin with one scripture and one prayer at a time. For example, number 624 begins with these words, The Lord bless you and keep you. You could take those words and pray, Heavenly Father, please bless, protect, and keep my child safe. In Jesus' mighty name, amen. You could also personalize the prayers by saying your child's name. Your prayer does not have to be any longer than that. Of course, it can be, but there are no rules to prayer length. What matters is your willingness to begin even imperfectly. So here is a practical way that you can implement this today. Choose one scripture to pray over your child this week. Read it, think about it, and then allow that scripture to guide one short prayer. That's it. One scripture, one prayer, one faithful step. And as you continue praying and sharing scripture with your child, they will hear that God's word is not only something that we read on, you know, on Sunday at church, his truth speaks into our everyday lives.
